he must place the fear of Allah in the hearts of people, removing the influence of Nafs-e-‘Ammarah, which is the greatest obstacle in attaining the true love of Allah Almighty. Having done all of this, he must also finally make people expectant and hopeful in the mercy of Allah Almighty, bringing them into His Majestic court.

The summary of the statement of ‘Allamah Manaawi رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه is: ‘Alongside having the two qualities of giving invitation to goodness and instilling the love of Allah Almighty in the hearts of people, there is also a condition for this person to be considered the best (among the Ummah). This is that he must not do these works for fame or any worldly greed, but rather, all of his efforts must be purely to gain please Allah Almighty. If this is the case, then that person is the greatest person of the Ummah. (Fayz-ul-Qadeer, vol. 3, p. 463, under the Hadith 3979)

Certain people are the keys to wellbeing

Dear Islamic brothers! Let us have the privilege of listening to another Hadith. It is reported from the esteemed Companion, the servant of Mustafa, Sayyiduna Anas Bin Maalik رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ, that the final Prophet of Allah Almighty, the Messenger of the Haashimi lineage صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم stated: ‘Without doubt, there are those amongst the people who are the keys to wellbeing and the lock of evil, and there are certain people who are the keys to evil, and the lock of wellbeing. Thus, glad tiding is for him in whose hands Allah Almighty has placed the keys to wellbeing, and destruction is for him in whose hands Allah Almighty has placed the keys to evil.’ (Jami’-us-Sagheer, p. 210, Hadith 2465)

Two types of people are mentioned in this Hadith:

1.   He who is the key to wellbeing and the lock of evil. This means that he is such a person through whom the works of piety and goodness are performed. He gives charity and donates to the people, fulfils the needs of the grieved and problem-stricken, teaches knowledge to the illiterate, shows the correct path to those who have lost
