* The Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم performed his Aqeeqah on the 7th day, trimmed his hair and gave the command to give silver in charity equal to the weight of the hair. (Tareekh-ul-Khalifah`, p. 149, Bab 6, vol. 1, p. 396)
He رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ was named by the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. The full details of the event are somewhat as follows: Sayyidatuna Asma bint ‘Umays رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْها gave the glad tiding of Imam Hasan’s رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ birth to the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. Thus, the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم came and said, ‘O Asma! Bring my son.’ So, Sayyidatuna Asma رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهَا wrapped him in a cloth and brought him to the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. The Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم gave the Azan in his right ear and recited the Takbeer in his left ear, and then asked Sayyiduna Maula Ali Al-Murtada رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ, ‘What have you named this esteemed son?’ He رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ humbly replied, ‘O Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! What authority do I possess to name him without (your) permission, but as you have asked, it is my opinion that he be named Harb, however, you have the authority.’ Thus, the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم named him Hasan. (Sawanih-e-Karbala, p. 92, Summarized)
His younger brother, Sayyid-ush-Shuhada, Sayyiduna Imam Hussain رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ was born on 5 Sha’ban-ul-Mu’azzam, 4 AH in Madina Munawwarah. The Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم named him ‘Hussain’ and ‘Shabbir’. His Kunyah is Abu Abdullah, and his titles are also ‘Sibt-e-Rasool’ and ‘Ray-Hana-tur-Rasool’ (the flower of the Messenger صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم). Just like his elder brother, he رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ is also the leader of the youth of Paradise. (Asad-ul-Ghaabah, p. 1173, Al-Hussain Ibn Ali, pp. 25,26, selected, Siyar ‘Alam-ul-Nebula`, 270, Al-Husayn-ul-Shaheed, vol. 4, pp. 402-404)
