Dear Islamic brothers! Let us listen to some sayings of the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم regarding their merits and excellences:

He صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: مَنْ اَحَبَّ الْحَسَنَ وَالْحُسَیْنَ فَقَدْ اَحَبَّنِیْ وَمَنْ اَبْغَضَھُمَا فَقَدْ اَبْغَضَنِیْ, meaning, ‘Whosoever loved Hasan and Hussain رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُما loved me, and whosoever showed animosity towards them showed animosity towards me.’

(Ibn-e-Majah, vol. 1, p. 96, Hadith 143)

He صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: هُمَا رَيْحَانَتَايَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا یعنی حَسَن وحُسَین, meaning, ‘Hasan and Hussain رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُما are my two flowers in the world.’ (Bukhari, vol. 2, p. 547, Hadith 3753)

He صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: اَلْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ سَيِّدَا شَبَابِ اَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ, meaning, ‘Hasan and Hussain رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُما are the leaders of the youth of Paradise.’ (Tirmizi, vol. 5, p. 426, Hadith 3793)

Love for Hasanayn Karimayn is Wajib

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُما states: When this verse (of part 25, Surah ash-Shura) was revealed:

قُلْ لَّاۤ اَسْــٴَـلُكُمْ عَلَیْهِ اَجْرًا اِلَّا الْمَوَدَّةَ فِی الْقُرْبٰىؕ-

Say you (O Beloved), ‘I do not ask any recompense from you for this (propagation of religion), except (your) love for (my near) relatives.’

[Kanz-ul-Iman (translation of Quran)] (Part 25, Surah Al-Shura, Verse 23)

The Noble Sahabah رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُم asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ! Who are those close family members of yours whose love is Wajib upon us?’ The Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم replied, ‘Ali al-Murtada, Fatimat-uz-Zahra     رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهَا and both of their sons (i.e. Imam Hasan and Imam Hussain رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُما).
