Power of Rasoolullah regarding exempting Salah
Dear Islamic brothers! There is no doubt that five times Salah are obligatory for every Muslim during the day and night. To deny its obligation is an act of disbelief and he who misses it once deliberately, commits a grave sin. The Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has stated: خَمْسُ صَلَوَاتٍ فِي الْيَوْمِ وَاللَّيْلَةِ i.e., five Salahs are Fard [obligatory]) during the day and night. (Sahih Muslim, pp. 24, Hadees 11)
But may I be sacrificed for the powers of the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! Despite five Salahs being Fard [obligatory] for the entire Ummah, accepting a request of a person, he صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم allowed him to miss three Fard [obligatory] Salahs.
It is stated that a person came to the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and agreed to embrace Islam on this condition that he would offer only two Salahs. The Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم accepted it.
(Musnad Imam Ahmad, vol. 7, pp. 283, Hadees 20309)
Remember! This permission of missing Salah was specific to only that person but for others, it is impermissible to miss even a single Salah without any Shar’i reason.
Dear Islamic brothers! Have you heard! Five Salahs are obligatory for entire Muslims, but, by his power, he صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم allowed that person not to offer three Salahs. Similarly, a beautiful account of the compensation of Sawm [fast] is also reported. Listen to it, but before this, keep this ruling in mind as to what the general ruling about invalidating a Sawm is. If a sane, adult and resident Muslim (who is not a traveller by Shari’ah) deliberately engages in intercourse or eats or drinks something for pleasure in the state of the Sawm of Ramadan without a valid exemption his fast will become invalid. Both the expiation and the Qada are mandatory for him.
(Rad-dul-Muhtar, vol. 3, pp. 388)
(The Qada is that he should observe the Sawm again on any other day except Ramadan and) the compensation for invalidating a Sawm is to free a male or female slave, if possible. If it is not possible, then he will have to keep 60
