luminous grave of the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! I am hungry.’ Suddenly, I fell asleep, and during my sleep, I was awoken by someone who invited me to come with him. Thus, I accompanied him to his home. The host presented dates, ghee and wheat bread to me, and said, ‘Kindly eat until your stomach is full, because my esteemed grandfather, Sayyiduna Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has instructed me to host you. Please come to us, whenever you feel hungry in the future.’ (Hujjatullahi ‘Alal-‘Aalameen, p. 573)
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
Dear Islamic brothers! Our beautiful religion of Islam has instructed us to look out for other Muslims, be kind towards them, to aid the poor and care for orphans. It is for this reason that every year, Zakat was made obligatory upon those who fulfil certain conditions, people are encouraged to be generous by explaining the virtues of Nafli Sadaqa, and miserliness was condemned.
Therefore, instead of displaying laziness and stinginess, we should strive to pay our Zakat for the sake of Allah Almighty, as it is a very important Fard. When doing so, we should make sure that we fulfil all relevant Shar’i conditions. Also, we should develop a mindset of giving Sadaqa as Allah Almighty likes the act of Sadaqa, and alongside removing calamities, Sadaqa is also a means of fulfilling the many needs of the poor and needy.
In order gain enthusiasm to be generous, let us listen to five statements of the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم regarding the virtues of generosity:
1. ‘Generosity is a tree from the trees of Paradise, whose branches are leaning towards the earth. Whosever holds one of its branches,
