Dear Islamic brothers! The topic of today’s Bayan is, ‘Who is the most generous one!’ In which, we will hear about the generosity of our master, the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, the excellences and blessings of Sadaqa, who is the most generous person, five blessed statements of the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم regarding the virtues of generosity, a few accounts describing the generosity of the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, and a brief introduction to Jami’aat-ul-Madina and Madaaris-ul-Madina.

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                                                 صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

The generosity of the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم

Sayyiduna Abdullah Hawzani رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه narrates: Whilst in Syria, I met the Mu’azzin of Rasool صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, Sayyiduna Bilal رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ in Halab (Aleppo). I asked him about the spending of the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, and he explained to me that whatever wealth was in the possession of the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, I was appointed the responsibility of spending it, and this remained my duty from the time of his announcement of Prophethood until his veiling from this world. Whenever a Muslim without clothing would come to the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, I would be instructed by him; and as such, I would take a loan from someone, and after buying a shawl, I would cover that Muslim with it, and I would give them food to eat.

One day, a polytheist (Mushrik) came to me and said, ‘O Bilal! Do not take a loan from anybody besides me, I have abundant wealth.’ So, I proceeded to only take loans from him. This continued, until one day, I made Wudu and stood to give Azan, when I saw that polytheist coming towards me in the company of several other merchants and he cursed me. He then said, ‘Do you know how many days are left for you to fulfil your promise?’ I said, ‘The time of the promise has come close.’ The
