then Allah bestows mercy on those people too due to his crying. Every deed shall be weighed apart from tears, and a single tear extinguishes seas of fire.’ (Mawsu’ah Al-Imam Ibn Abi Al-Dunya, vol. 3, p. 172, Hadith 14)

3. Quranic Recitation

A deed which makes one worthy of receiving Divine mercy is also the recitation of the Holy Quran. The Holy Quran is Divine Revelation; it is a means of attaining the nearness of Almighty Allah and a composition of guidance. It will intercede for its reciters, they will have no fear and they shall not face accountability on the Day of Judgement.

Quranic recitation is a great act of worship and means of mercy and blessings to downpour. Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ has said: ‘A home in which the Quran is recited becomes vast for its residents, its goodness is abundant, angels visit it and the devils leave from there.’ (Ihya-ul-‘Uloom, vol. 1, p. 862)

The Merciful Prophet, intercessor of the Ummah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has said: ‘Tranquillity descends upon the people who gather in one of the Houses of Allah to recite the Book of Allah, study and teach it; mercy envelops them, angels touch them (with their wings) and Allah Almighty mentions them in the presence of the angels.’ (Muslim, Raqm 6853, p. 1110)

4. Love for Masjid

A deed which makes one worthy of receiving Divine mercy is love for Masjids. It is mentioned in a Hadith: ‘مَنْ اَلِفَ الْمَسْجِدَاَلِفَھُ اللّٰھ’ whosoever loves the Masjid, Allah makes him His beloved.’ (Majma’-uz-Zawaid, vol. 2, p. 135, Raqm 2031)
