Dear Islamic brothers! Allah Almighty has commanded us to be good towards our parents; from this we learn that serving parents is very important. Being good towards parents entails that a person does not say anything nor do anything which causes them pain, and to serve them abundantly with one’s wealth and body, to love them, to sit with them, to speak to them and to respect them in every other action. Present your wealth for their service with a willing heart and whenever they have a need, go to them. (Siraat Al-Jinaan, vol. 1, p. 153) We should also treat our parents kindly and make every effort to please them whilst remaining within the boundaries of the Shari’ah, for the pleasure of Allah Almighty lies within their pleasure, and the displeasure of Allah Almighty lies within their displeasure.
